HEART OF DARKNESS

This design includes dust jacket, all illustrations, end sheets, interior page layout and production.

As I read the book I realized a normal bookcover would not suffice. All the books that were encountered in the story are destroyed from the harsh environment in the story. I decided to make a leather pouch to protect the book from the journey that takes place in the story. The design was inspired by the old pony express riders. They carried a similar item on their deliveries.

I still had to get vital information to the consumer. My solution was to use a luggage type tag since the book is about a journey. The tag conveys all the needed information and once purchased the buyer can remove the tag and still have the leather pouch to protect his or her book.
