HEART OF DARKNESS

This design includes a dust jacket, all illustrations, end sheets, interior page layout, and production.

As I read the book, I realized a normal book cover would not suffice. The harsh environment destroys all the books and paperwork encountered in the story. I decided to construct a leather pouch to protect the book from the journey. The design was inspired by the old Pony Express riders, who carried a similar item on deliveries.

I still had to provide vital information to the consumer. Since the story is about a journey, my solution was to use a luggage-type tag. It conveys all the needed information, and once purchased, the buyer can remove the tag and still have the leather pouch to protect their book.
